Gameloft have announced the date for the new Let's Golf game, cannily titled Let's Golf 3.
The game comes out on August 11th. Yes, that's right, this Thursday. In more surprising news, Gameloft are making the iPhone and iPad game free to download.
They haven't yet mentioned the word freemium, but a quick glance at their press release makes it sound pretty likely as they explain that skills can be purchased using coins won in-game. We'd take a good bet that those same coins can also be quickly purchased with real money too.
Below is a list of the features set out for the new game and you can take a look at the new trailer over in our features section on the right.
- Six far-out locations to play golf such as Outer Space, Underwater and the Great Wall of China all presented in beautiful 3D.
- Create your own unique golfing avatar by mixing and matching clothes, hair, gear and more to match your style, no matter how colourful or down-to-Earth - all of which can be unlocked or purchased through the built-in marketplace.
- Purchase special skills (such as increased range or accuracy for your shots) or balls with special powers ( Tornado, Luck, etc.) using virtual coins you can earn in-game.
- Progressively unlock new modes: Stroke, Match, Shoot-Out, Closest to Pin and Time Stroke.
- Need a change of pace? Play some challenging mini-games like Golf Bubbles, Banana Shot and Putter Master to hone specific skills
- Up to 4 golfers can compete in fun matches online and locally (via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.) Including a Challenge mode where your friends can compete to beat your score and see who will win the top prize if you're not all online at the same time
