Make me break out!
Just today, Shatter developer Sidhe confirmed that the title would see an outing on PC in "the coming weeks", according to Eurogamer. Preceding this news by a couple of days was a forum post, also on Eurogamer, implying that not only would the game be released on Steam "soon", but also to "iPhone by the middle of the year or so". It was actually revealed some time ago in an interview with Gamasutra that the title was not exclusive to PS3 where Sidhe's MD Mario Wynands said that "so far it is looking likely that we will bring the game to other platforms".
Of course, we question everything read on the internet - especially on gaming forums - but it seems consistent not only with today's announcement of Shatter's arrival on PC, but with the developers starting their own iPhone development team last year: PikPok. There has been no official statement on the matter at the time of writing.
If you don't know much about Shatter, it's based on old-school classics Arkanoid and Breakout; the idea behind the game being to hit a ball against a bunch of bricks by moving a paddle along the screen. Of course, we wouldn't be particularly excited about this unless there was more to it, and rest assured, there most certainly is. The game is lit up with neon lights like Geometry Wars with a soundtrack to match it, and there's the added complexity of physics modelling, wind blowing paddles, bullet time and boss battles.
With its fair share of twists and turns, Shatter is definitely on our radar here at AppGamer, and we'll keep you informed regarding the iPhone release of this arcade gem.
