Gameloft "Do" Resident Evil 5 With 'Zombie Infection'
by Chris Thomas on Wednesday 10th Mar 2010

Capcom will not be best pleased.

We have already offered up our analysis of Gameloft's shenanigans. If you're interested in the topic we suggest you take a look, you may find it arousing. Disregarding their past releases lets take a look at what is in the pipeline shall we!

Kotaku's Brian Crecente recently got to check out Zombie Infection, Gameloft's upcoming 3rd person shooter and a game that carries a striking resemblence to Capcom's smash hit from 2009 Resident Evil 5. According to Brian "The third-person shooter co-stars and (sic) man and woman working for a secret government agency assigned to investigate a bizarre plague in Africa". Sounds a little too familiar to us. Indeed Brian added his opinion that "Zombie Infection felt a bit too much like an attempt to cash in on someone else's beloved franchise and, this time, not succeeding".

Like most of Gameloft's action titles the controls are handled by a virtual joystick and buttons combo that should be instantly familiar to anyone that played Terminator Salvation or N.O.V.A.

Looking at and comparing their recent titles it certainly appears that Gameloft have created an incredibly robust 3D game engine for the iPhone, we can't help but wonder however if familiarity will eventually breed contempt. It's our personal opinion that Gameloft's titles are typically superb, however their third and first person action titles are all starting to blur into one experience with little to seperate them besides the themes.
