Sam Fisher on iPhone? We'd put money on it.
The internet is a wonderful place; a place where rumours are free to run wild, fed and nurtured by the over-active imaginations of internet communities. With games, these rumours are as frequent as they are untruthful, but every now and again one pops up with some weight behind it. The latest rumour of interest to us concerns Splinter Cell, with numerous sources hinting that the franchise will arriving on the App Store at some point very soon.
A tweet from the guys over at 148Apps revealed:
"A HUGE game franchise is coming to the iPhone. Hint: you'll need stealthy skills to play"
All things considered, it can only be one of two games. And it's not likely to be Metal Gear Solid given the fact the franchise is already available on iDevices. Nope, we'd put money on it being Splinter Cell.
This would make sense though, what with Splinter Cell: Conviction not all that far away on the home consoles. It would make sense for Ubisoft to release an iPhone version alongside the main game, as has happened with numerous other big franchises in the past.
We're also going to hazard a guess that Gameloft could well be behind the development of the game, not only have they been behind iPhone versions of many other of Ubisoft's IPs but they also made the rather superb Splinter Cell game back on the N-Gage. Of course it could just as likely be handled in-house, but we're just going to have to wait and see.

Expect confirmation of this rumour shortly, it seems there's an announcement imminent.
