Our pick for this months' finest.
Incredible games are arriving on the App Store with such frequency lately that it makes choosing a single title to receive the GOTM honour a genuinely difficult process. Last month we had to choose between Rolando 2 and The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition and now this month we are faced with two equally brilliant titles: Spider: The Secret Of Bryce Manor and Gangstar: West Coast Hustle.
Both games have so much to offer and at the same time they couldn’t be more different. Gangstar is a 3D sandbox crime’em up that blends high speed driving with gangwarfare while Spider is a unique 2D platform game that changes the way we think about story telling in games.
After many sleepless nights however we came to a conclusion. We're giving this one to Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor.

While Gangstar is an incredible package and genuinely pushes the iDevice hardware beyond what we thought it was capable of Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor is just an outstanding original experience and this makes it so much more memorable. Here’s what we had to say about it in our 9/10 review…
“Beyond the gameplay and controls what really elevates Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor to the status of a “Must Buy” is the artistry. The graphics have a poignant hand drawn style to them that is really unlike any game I’ve ever seen before. They perfectly compliment the nagging feeling you’ll get the further into the mansion you explore, the feeling that you’re uncovering a storyline bigger than the spider and his flying prey. If you go out of your way to explore the various rooms you’ll stumble across secret areas (inside boxes, light fittings etc) filled with clues as to what happened in the manor. I won’t spoil it but the last room might prove quite a shock and is well worth sticking around to uncover.”
