What are you up to Paul?
by Chris Thomas on 21st Apr 2009
I've just seen the following post by Paul Farley (MD of TAG Games, the team behind Car Jack Streets)
k so I was cutting the grass at home and had a thought just now... we have a lot of buzz around Car Jack Streets and really its great how iPhone gamers are so passionate about their games plus it occurs to me that GTA: Chinatown Wars has been in the news this week because their inital sales have been below expectations...
now wouldn't it be amazing if without any expensive TV, press or radio advertising Car Jack outsold GTA? I don't know if there are enough iPhone gamers out there to make that possible but my gut feeling is it could happen and that would be awesome for us (and indirectly for you because you'll get even better updates, sequels and we might actually be able to finish Astro Ranch this century!)
so I'm wondering if there are any volunteers out there that want to test the power of TouchArcade/viral marketing? Don't think we need many - maybe 25 or so to get things kicked off. I have an idea that could get Car Jack in front of a huge number of iPhone gamers (even the casual ones that dont read this site!) in the next couple of days and for no expense (is good because we are skint!) and for very little work.
Want to potentially be apart of videogaming marketing history and take part in our little experiment? If so email me at carjackstreets@tag-games.com with MARKETING EXPERIMENT in the subject line in the next 12 hours and I'll send out my idea and we can take it from there.
If nothing else it will relieve some of the boredom while we wait for approval!
Cheers
P
Wow way to be mysterious to the absolute max there Paul. Goddamn I must know what you're up to!

Kyoto Garden - Hidden In London
by Chris Thomas on 11th Apr 2009
I heard that hidden in London there is a really cool park and deep within that park are some Japanese gardens SO today I set out to find them and find them I did! It's not an overly amazing photo but it's just so goddamn nice knowing that even in the stinky smoghole of London there are quiet and serene places like this. I can't wait to go back in the summer (this pic was taken just after rain).

Go go gadget helicopter hair!

That lead going up her neck to her head leads me to believe that the propellors could be motorized. As a species I wonder if we have too many inventors?
An insight into my psyche perhaps.

My "Take the iPhone Seriously" article is up.
by Chris Thomas on 8th Apr 2009

So my latest feature is up. Go check it out, it's essentially a list of 5 iPhone games that really hold their own against the games you see on the NDS or PSP. I'm not saying the iPhone is a NDS or PSP beater, I just think there is so much resistance to the platform by "teh hardcorez", some people just won't accept that the iPhone deserves to be taken seriously. Le sigh. Oh well, PSP owners are hopefully too busy devouring Resistance Retribution to read it. I don't think I could take any anti-iPhone comments ;-)
Also, this story about some guy finding ecstasy pills in his pre-owned game is shocking, although I think Kotaku's commentary after is probably going to inspire some shenanigans somewhere...
"Anyone who has ever traded in a game at GameStop knows full well that they never, ever check the game manuals. One could theoretically print out a bunch of porn from the internet, wrap the game manual's cover around it, trade in their used copy of Animal Crossing, and then wait for the headlines to appear. Not that I am suggesting anyone try that, of course."
Really makes me want to do that. I won't though. I gave my copy of Animal Crossing away :(
Anything that amuses me this much DESERVES a blog post.

Oooh looks like we have blogs now. Which I guess is an open invitation for me to post whatever the hell I want, woohoo! Enjoy.
